| The Colorado River at her best |
Westwater Canyon offers stunning scenery and challenging whitewater and ranks high with our guests and boatmen alike. The river rushes through a steep canyon where ancient rock has pushed its way to the surface. Here the canyon is narrow, creating rolling waves and crashing whitewater. Our state of the art rafts get you close to the water and give you a ride that makes you feel like your part of the river. A classic canyon of the American southwest, Westwater is the perfect two day river trip.
Your boatman will tell you about the canyons history and it's ancient cultures. From the miners cabin to the outlaw cave, Westwater has an interesting human story. Evidence of ancient mans life is etched in the canyon walls and a variety of wildlife inhabit the river corridor. Golden Eagle, Great Blue Heron and the comical Raven are often spotted. Beaver live along the river and Mule Deer graze near shore. If your lucky you'll spot a River Otter.
We'll stop for lunch on the river's edge where your guide will serve a tasty buffet style picnic lunch. Later, a hike up an interesting side canyon or a refreshing swim in the river will highlight your day.

| Entering Westwater Canyon |
As evening begins to invade the canyon we'll stop for camp on a beautiful sand beach along the river. Now your boatmen will exhibit outdoor cooking skill as a western style meal is prepared over the embers of an open fire. Later, dessert baked fresh in a dutch oven will be the touch to end a perfect day. We have some of the darkest sky's in the country and on a clear summer night the Milky Way is a prominent and beautiful sight.
In Westwater we'll run rapids with names like Skull, Last Chance and Funnel Falls. One of the great characteristic of Westwater Canyon is that the rapids are good at almost any water level. So, no matter what time of year your here you'll encounter exciting rapids that demonstrate the power and magic of the Colorado River. Westwater is the perfect two day river trip. |
