General Notes:
Some ideas about what to bring along, what to leave behind, and what the weather is like.

With your confirmed reservation, you will receive a packing list with weather, environmental guidelines, and transportation information to help you plan your vacation. Feel free to call us at 1-800-833-1278 or email us at info@navtec.com if you have questions. Personalized service is always available for you. But here are some general guidelines.

On the trips that feature the overnight Whitewater RHIB boats, please make an effort to pack light. They are great fun, but you must travel light. NAVTEC reserves the right to limit the number of duffles on any of our trips.

During the heat of the summer, light-colored clothing will keep you cooler than dark colored clothing.

Summer Trips: (Mid-May through Mid-September)
  • Swimsuit , fast drying shorts, T-shirt
  • Long sleeve shirt and long pants (for cool morning and sun protection)
  • Light sweater or jacket
  • Comfortable river sandles (Teva or Chacos)and an old pair of tennis shoes (you can bring new tennis shoes it you want.)
  • Hat (with visor), sunglasses with securing strap, sunscreen and lip balm, skin lotion
  • Good quality rain jacket and rain pants are best but a poncho will work
  • Towel, washcloth, and toilet articles (biodegradable soap only)
  • Flashlight, canteen or water bottle
  • Personal medicines etc.
  • Your own supply of soft drinks, beer or alcoholic beverage
  • Tent, sleeping bag, ground cloth and sleeping pad (rentals available)
  • Two or three heavy duty garbage bags for wet and dirty clothing. a few zip lock bags can come in handing.
Spring and Fall Trips: (March to Mid-May, Mid-September to October)
  • A good quality rain suit (a must on spring and fall trips)
  • Long Johns (polypropylene, capilene, or some other synthetic material)
  • Warm sweater, warm coat, warm hat of a fast-drying synthetic material
  • Warm camp shoes and socks (wetsuit booties are nice on the boat)
  • Tent, sleeping bag, ground cloth and sleeping pad (rentals available)
Optional:
  • Camera and extra film with batteries, notebook and pencil, binocular, guidebook, snacks and map.
Leave behind:
  • Firearms and all other weapons
  • All pets (including pet fish)
  • The frustrations and worries of city life
Weather and Climate:
Canyonlands is hot in the middle of summer, with high temperatures between 95-105 F and overnight lows in the 70s. In late summer thunderstorms are common, so don't forget your rain gear and tent. Spring and fall temperatures are 70-85 F during the day and 50-60 F at night.
